Faceless Endorsement

Here I was worrying about who to vote for in the Mayoral election - now it seems a faceless no-brainer! I'm not sure what Ms. Decker's true motivation is for avoiding on-line discussion, but I have a few guesses.

If it is truly for the reasons that she states - that she does not feel it necessary to respond to questions from faceless individuals, then she is truly clueless and will not have a forward vision for the good of Evansville.

If it is, as I suspect, because she feels anything as open as a virutal discussion can only harm her campaign (which based on the primary should guarantee an election), than I would argue she is clearly more concerned about the appearance of a support rather than truly testing the waters of reaching out to constituents.

Either way, consider my official faceless endorsement to go to Karen Aikman.

Does that mean I get to join the clique?

Decker pretty much had my vote until her closing arguments. Take one more out of her column from the primary and add it to Karen Aikman.

I wonder how many bloggers she scared off with her comments? If she flipped 100 or so and Karen picks up Andersons votes through his endorsement, it is a race.

When I first started following the Observer, I thought the east siders were fighting a losing battle with the city. I think the online dialogue made a difference as far as how things were handled at the plan commission level. If she is that closed minded or opposed to open discussion (regardless of the method) she doesnt' have my support.

Her comments about blogs didn't put me off so much as her seeming naivete about how City Hall works. Her remark that all the Council members were elected by the citizens so, "building consensus would be easy," struck me as being very naive.

Also her claims to be willing to run a full time mayor's office are a little off-putting to me. We don't need to be setting the standard at 40 hrs per week for a $5300 a year job. Who would take it if that was the expectation?
